Looks more premium than the Triber it is based on

  • The Kiger’s rear end has been spied partially covered by camouflage.

  • It has a sharp design for the taillamps and a high set rear bumper which makes it look more rugged.

  • The Kiger is yet to be unveiled in any form whatsoever and is expected to debut directly in its production-ready avatar.

  • It will likely be offered with the Triber’s 1.0-litre petrol engine and a new 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine as well.

  • The Kiger is likely to be launched in early 2021 with prices ranging between Rs 6 lakh and Rs 8 lakh.

With most of the taillamps and rear bumper now visible, this is the most we’ve seen of the Kiger’s rear end so far. Even its Nissan sibling has made its debut as the pre-production Magnite concept. However, we’ve spied the Renault Kiger numerous times and this time the test mule has been spied alongside the Magnite test vehicle, both covered in camouflage.

This is the most we’ve seen of the Kiger’s rear end with most of the taillamps and rear bumper now visible. Even though the Renault and Nissan sub-4m SUVs will have the same underpinnings, they’ll have very different top hats. The Kiger’s design seems to be more SUV-centric than the Magnite’s crossover proportions.

We’ve spied the Kiger’s interior previously and noted that its dashboard takes inspiration from the Triber’s. It’ll likely be equipped with comforts like auto AC, semi-digital instrument cluster, rear AC vents, upto 4 airbags and its 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with connected car tech. The Kiger is expected to have a spacious cabin since it is based on the same platform as the Triber which has managed to fit three rows of seats inside it.

Renault is likely to offer the Kiger with the same 1.0-litre petrol engine as the Triber where it makes 72PS and 96Nm while mated to a 5-speed manual with the option of an AMT. The sub-4m SUV is expected to also be available with a new 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that would have an output of 100PS and 160Nm. This engine could be offered with a 6-speed manual and the option of a CVT automatic.

Renault Kiger vs Triber Interior: Key Differences

The Renault Kiger is expected to be unveiled by the end of 2020 with sales begining in early 2021. It will likely be priced between Rs 6 lakh and Rs 8 lakh. The Kiger will be competing against the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, Ford EcoSport as well as upcoming models like the Kia Sonet, Toyota Urban Cruiser and Nissan Magnite.
