Skoda announces Free Pollution Check on 5th June 2014

Skoda Auto India in association with Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) has announced a 'Free Pollution Check' program on World Environment Day on June 5th, 2014. Through this green initiative, the company looks forward to spread awareness on some environment polluting factors. The “Free Pollution Check” could be done at any ŠKODA dealership across the country.

In this pollution check, specially trained technical personnels will use advanced checking equipments and devices to clean the engine. All the Skoda dealers will participate and give their valuable tips in maintaining the car.  Skoda customers visiting the "Free Pollution Check" camp will also receive a Free PUC certificate by the ŠKODA Auto dealers in association with SIAM.

Moreover, in upcoming months, the automaker will launch the facelift version of its SUV Skoda Yeti. The car was already showcased at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo. With this launch, the company looks forward to refresh the current model line-up. It is expected that the manufacturer will launch two different variants, one being Skoda Yeti and the other, Yeti Outdoor. Yeti will be more suited for urban customers while the Yeti Outdoor will be ideal for off-roading enthusiasts as it gets more rugged looks and off-roading capabilities.

In terms of interiors, the SUV gets a huge up-gradation as it now features three spoke steering wheel and a new music system. The SUV features cruise control, key-less entry with push button start, electrically adjustable driver seat and new tyre pressure monitoring system. The vehicle also gets a new infotainment system which includes 6.5 LCD TFT colour display with touch-screen controls and audio player.

Under the hood of this powerful SUV is the parent company Volkswagen's tried and tested 2.0-litre TDI engine which is tuned to develop two power outputs. The front wheel drive Yeti variant musters a power of 108bhp and is coupled to a five speed manual transmission while the all-wheel drive Yeti Outdoor churns a power of 138bhp and is coupled to five manual transmission. The SUV still lacks the automatic DSG gearboox.  

While recently, the carmaker also revealed the images of its five door coupe Skoda VisionC.  The concept gets bold radiator grille and redesigned headlamps. While the rear is also quite distinctive and features boomerang shaped taillamp cluster. In India, the company offers Superb, Octavia, Rapid in saloon segment,  Yeti in SUV segment and Fabia in hatch.
