Skoda Citigo hatchback might hit Indian shores by 2012

Skoda India is working very hard towards making its portfolio stronger in the country. Skoda India is now here with its brand new small car, known as Skoda Citigo. This hatchback was actually planned for Europe, but the new small car is expected to be launched in India. Skoda India was having a hard time in capturing big volume sales in the small car segment with Skoda Fabia. Therefore, by introducing new Skoda Citigo in the market, Skoda India is aiming high that it will be successful in capturing big volumes in sales. As per the chairman of Skoda Auto Global, Mr. Winfried Vahland, the new Skoda Citigo, which was initially planned for Europe also has the ability to grab huge sales in India.

He also mentioned that Indian car market is one of the most flourishing and booming one internationally accompanied with Russia and China. Mr. Vahland said that the Indian market will surely accept Skoda Citigo with warmness. The new Skoda Citigo is one of the smallest and newest cars from Skoda village and it is expected to launch in late 2011 in Czech market and in Europe the launch will be done in early 2012. Skoda is a sister concern of Volkswagen and it is being said that Skoda Citigo will be a low cost alternative to Volkswagen Up!. Mr. Winfried Vahland also said that Skoda Citigo will enter the Indian car market with the support and assistance of Volkswagen. If possible, speculations suggest that both Volkswagen and Skoda will bring in Skoda Citigo together.

Rumor has it that even Volkswagen Up! is also expected to arrive in the Indian car market by 2012. Skoda India is hoping for a massive boost in sales in the country. Skoda Rapid is the first step towards the huge sales and Skoda Rapid is the 1^st vehicle from Skoda, which is specially designed for the Indian consumers. Skoda Rapid will solely be manufactured in India itself. Skoda Rapid is expected to hit the Indian roads by November 2011 and will give a tough competition to other cars in India, such as Maruti Swift Dzire, Toyota Etios, Nissan Sunny, Tata Indigo Manza and Ford Fiesta classic. It is being said that Skoda Rapid will be priced less than Volkswagen Vento, which comes with a starting price tag of Rs. 7 lakh.
