Skoda Registers Close To 6,000 Bookings For The Kushaq, Two Months’ Average Wait Time

The Czech carmaker is banking big on the success of the Kushaq to turn around its fortunes in the Indian market

Skoda recently launched the Kushaq in India with an aim to rival the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. The Czech carmaker has now reported they have already booked 6,000 units of the SUV, each for a token of Rs 35,000. More importantly, each customer has been allotted a fixed delivery date.

We think this is an excellent move by Skoda as it will give a clearer picture to car buyers looking to bring the Kushaq home. In the case of other popular models, customers are usually given tentative delivery dates ranging from six to eight months. On average, the Kushaq’s waiting period is around two months.

Skoda hopes to ride on the Kushaq’s success and expand its footprint in India. The carmaker plans to have 225 showrooms and service centres across the country by 2022. You can read more about this here.

Skoda’s sales numbers for July, 2021 have seen a 320 percent increase compared to June, 2021. The carmaker sold 3,080 units in July compared to 734 units in June. This increase in numbers can clearly be attributed to Kushaq’s arrival.

The Kushaq is powered by 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engines. However, Skoda is currently only delivering the 1.0-litre model. It plans on beginning deliveries of the more powerful 1.5-litre turbo petrol model sometime in August 2021.
