Skoda India has officially introduced the much talked about cut-price variant Skoda Superb Ambition to the Indian sub-continent. The launch has happened at Tote on the Turf at Mahalaxmi in Mumbai. Available in both petrol and diesel versions the Ambition would form the entry-level model of the Superb luxury saloon. The cost of cut-price Ambition variant is way less than the top-end Elegance variant of Skoda Superb. The Skoda Superb Ambition Petrol is priced at Rs. 17.66 lakh and the Skoda Superb Ambition Diesel is priced at Rs. 22.07 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom Mumbai.

The petrol Ambition drives power from a 1.8 liter turbocharged petrol engine (TSI) pumping out 160 PS of power and 250 NM of torque mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. The diesel Ambition drives power from a 2.0 liter turbo diesel engine (TDI) producing a torque of 320 NM and a power of 140 PS mated to a six speed dual clutch automatic gearbox with triptonic manual mode.

Owing to the low cost, the car is notched down a bit on the features front in comparison to the Elegance variant. The features going amiss from the car’s front include the front parking sensors and Bi-xenon cornering lamps. On the inside the car is missing the electric sunroof, touch screen central console and 6-CD audio unit. The absentee features from under the hood are the hill hold and hill descent system.
