Skoda Superb low cost variant coming this Christmas, price expected at Rs 17 lakh

The Czech auto manufacturer, Skoda is said to launch a low-cost variant of its flagship sedan , Skoda Superb in India around the Christmas time to give a good run for money for its competitors. Apparently, Skoda India is mulling to introduce the sedan in the Skoda Superb Elegance variant with a major cut down in price of Rs 1.4 lakhs to place the Skoda Superb price at around Rs 17. The Skoda Superb price of the outgoing model is in the range of Rs 18 - 26 lakhs. Honda Accord is the potential rival of the car and the Honda India in order to keep up with the competition needs to offer a diesel variant of the car, with increased localisation to bring down the cost.

The auto manufacturer will offer the Superb loco variant in India on the 1.8 L petrol engine with a slightly mellowed down interiors and certain changes to bring down the cost of the car. The other two engine options on the car are a 2 L diesel engine and a 3.2 L V6 petrol engine. The 1.8 L petrol engine model currently offers an acceleration of 100 kmph in 11.33 sec with a top speed of 205 kmph mated with a seven-speed automatic gearbox to offer a peak power output of 140 Bhp and a top torque of 25 Kgm . The interiors of the sedan are designed to perfection to provide maximum comfort to the user with electrically adjustable passenger and driver seats, electrically retractable sunroof for easy operation and ivory coloured leather upholstery to give a classy finish to the interiors. The active and the passive safety features where brakes are concerned come in terms of ESP, ABS, EBD, MBA (Mechanical Brake Assistant), HBA (Hydraulic Brake Assistant), ASR (Anti Slip Regulation) and TCS (Traction Control System).
