SsangYong, the fourth largest auto giant from South Korea which is owned by the Indian auto giant Mahindra & Mahindra is all readying to gift an inexpensive 4x4 model to the UK line-up of its crossover Korando. This news has opened the doors of hope for the Indian car market which is also expected to be treated with the same variant once the SsanYong Korando Crossover makes it to the Indian shores.
Hustling under the hood of the SX model is the 2.0L four-cylinder turbo diesel engine that is capable of churning out a peak power of 147bhp at 4000rpm and a peak torque of 360Nm; the transmission system supported by the engine is 6-speed manual. The standard features of the EX model of the car include the Torque on Demand 4x4 system and also other comfort features like ESP with Hill Assist, rear parking sensors, roof rails, leather cladding on the steering wheel, tinted glass, cruise control and gear shift. The entertainment features include the remote audio controls, six speakers and Kenwood MP3 CD & RDS radio player that supports iPod & Bluetooth connectivity.
The on-road price tag of the new Korando SX 4x4 shows £18,795 i.e. around Rs. 15 lakh and is £2,650 i.e. around Rs. 2.10 lakh less than the ES model which is the next four wheel drive model of this Korando crossover range. For the Indian version of Ssangyong Korando variants, the parent company Mahindra & Mahindra is guessed to provide name like E4 E5 which will follow the naming strategy used by the company in the Mahindra XUV500 and Mahindra Xylo variants. The company has been careful about not revealing the probable launch date of the Korando crossover in the country; however it is still anticipated to hit the roads by the end of this year.
