Strike called off at Suzuki Powertrain and Suzuki Motorcycle

Workers at 3 Suzuki Motor Corp factories have put an end to their strike at work this morning after solving the matter with the management of their companies. The two-day long strike organized by workforce at Suzuki Powertrain India, Suzuki Castings, both in Manesar and Suzuki Motorcycle India in Gurgaon in support of the brethren colleagues at Manesar plant finally ceased. Sube Singh Yadav, Suzuki Powertrain India Employees Union President informed journalists that the workers have reached an agreement with the management who has given a nod to consider their demands sympathetically.

He added that workers from Suzuki Castings -- a part of Suzuki Powertrain India Ltd -- affiliated to the Suzuki Powertrain India Employees Union have resumed the production as well. With a workforce of more than 2,000 employees, Suzuki Powertrain India Ltd at its Manesar plant, manufactures diesel engines and transmissions for supplies to MSI whereas Suzuki Castings employs nearly 700 workers. Even Anil Kumar, Workers Union President at Suzuki Motorcycle India said that workers at the two-wheeler maker's plant resumed duty this morning after an agreement was reached with the management. The two wheeler factory, Suzuki Motorcycles India with its 1,400 workers at its plant Gurgaon rolls out about 1,200 motorcycles and scooters in a day.

The environment got so disturbed yesterday that Maruti Suzuki had to announce a shut down at its plants at Manesar and Gurgaon today due to deficiency of engines as production was not taking place owing to strike at Suzuki Powertrain. But now with all the three companies back in production, the situation has eased out a bit for management who is still expected to be locked in the stand-off with at Maruti India Manesar plant. However any of the Union President has refused to comment on the present situation at the car production unit in Manesar where production will start from Monday.
