Sub 4-meter Ford EcoSport expected to be launched in late 2012 or early 2013

The Indian car market needs a powerful, economic and compact car that could function well on the highly unkept Indian roads, could deal with the rising fuel prices and could be maneuvered easily in the disorganized traffic. Ford EcoSport is sure to bag an A++ rating in these areas. The car has been provided with higher ground clearance to dodge the unnecessary and unexpected elevations and depressions in the roads. Ford EcoSport was recently spotted taking test runs in Chennai. The car is too supplied with citified and vernal looks and features that are sure to appeal to the youth of the country. With a small footprint and a tall silhouette the Ford EcoSport is surely a head-turner. The bulging fenders along with the tight character lines imbibe this compact SUV with a masculine feel. The car is an international product with only one version across the globe.

The car traversing the roads of Bangalore and Bangkok (or any other city) would be exactly the same with absolutely no modifications whatsoever. The front end of this car furnished with a trapezoidal chrome grille seems pretty impressive and premium when flanked by a pair of sleek and unique headlights. The production version of EcoSport lacks the LED technology in the headlights. The fog lamps are too set in trapezoidal enclosures, both the lower part of the bumper and the outer bezel are endowed with chrome finish that adds a tinge of luxury to this otherwise sporty-looking car. The EcoSport SUV is based on the Fiesta hatchback platform which is evident from the sleek side profile of this new car. This off-roader is expected to quench your thirst for adventure without compromising on its looks, fuel economy and stability. The car is additionally painted with a plastic cladding that protects the paint.

The rear view mirrors are blessed with inbuilt flashers. The rear end of this SUV is made aggressive with the spare tyre on the tail gate which has a well designed alloy rim wrapped in thick rubber. The car looks like a lifted hatchback if the tyre is removed from the tailgate. The sleek tail-lights complement the headlights and the rear bumper too is bestowed with silver and black plastic accents. The rear windshield looks like a large wrap-around glass sheet because of the small glass areas of the C-pillars. The high tail-lamps are implanted in the spoiler which is integrated with the roof itself. The overall length of the car is 4.17m so it might enjoy the sub 4-meter benefits too if the spare assembly dimensions are disregarded. The wheelbase is 2.49m in length, the width of the car is 1.75m and the height is 1.65m.

The tires are 17-inch wheels with 205/55 profile tires. The Ford EcoSport will be available in 1.0-liter EcoBoost petrol engine and 1.5-liter diesel engine variants. The production version of this new car has been tested for safety features and is equipped with ABS, ESP and 7 airbags. The first model will be launched in Brazil, South America and then the launch would follow in India around the end of this year or the start of 2013. The South American markets are going to see a four wheel drive variant of the car too; however, nothing is clear about the variants of India as yet.  The prices are anticipated to be bit more than the Renault Duster SUV but nothing has been officially announced.
