The low cost cars from Maruti Suzuki which have been ruling the small car segment of Indian auto market since a long time are following a reverse route. It has been almost 26 years that these small cars were launched in domestic market and since then these are shining as the market leaders. But following the new strategies, the parent company Suzuki is taking these small cars back to Japanese car market with a view to avail low cost advantage.
As per the reports, the first model to enter the Japanese auto market will be Maruti A-Star. Addressing the new strategy, Maruti Suzuki Managing Director S Nakanishi said that Maruti has been performing exceptionally well in the global market and thus will make lucrative launches in Japan as well. He also claimed that the emission norms are well satisfied in the Maruti car models as mandatory in Europe which makes it well eligible to enter the Japanese auto market.
Maruti A-star constitutes a major part of the company’s exports. Out of the total 8 lakh cars sold by the company, 25 per cent were Maruti A-Star. Maruti is soon to come up with many new models in coming future. Maruti Suzuki WagonR is the market leader in Japan with highest selling units since 2003.
Nakanishi also stated that that many of the company’s models are market leaders in japan. He commented that the car models are blessed with superior technology and assures stand-out performance. Because the car models are making good progress in Indian auto market, the same story will be repeated in Japanese car market as well.
