Tata Introduces New 75 PS Variants of Zest

Tata Motors has added new variants to the Zest line-up with the 75 PS version of its diesel engine. Launched in 2014, Zest is Tata Motor’s second compact sedan, which sells around two thousand units per month. To make this version more accessible in terms of features and public appeal, Tata has introduced this engine in its higher variants. 

At the time of its launch, the Tata Zest featured three engine options: 90 PS turbocharged petrol and two versions of Fiat-derived 1.3-litre MultiJet. The later was dubbed as Quadrajet which was available in 75 PS, and a more powerful 90 PS. However, earlier, the 75 PS version was only available with the base XE trim, sans safety features such as ABS (anti-lock braking system) and airbags. Now, the said version, which puts out 75 PS of max power and 190 Nm of peak torque, is also available with the XM and the XMS trims. Furthermore, the 75 PS in the XMS trim comes with dual-front airbags and ABS with EBD (electronic brakeforce distribution) , and CSC (corner stability control). 

Speaking of the 90 PS diesel, it is now only available with the top-end XT trim and the automatic variants XMA and XTA. This engine puts out a healthy a 90 PS and 200 Nm of max torque. The Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire also uses the same engine, but only comes with a 75 PS version of the oil burner.
