The year 2012 wasn't very good for the home-grown automobile major Tata Motors, but they are looking aggressive in 2013, the company has already shared its plans of launching several new and upgraded vehicle in 2013, now the latest news coming in is about a new sub-four metre compact sedan. Financial Chronicle now reports that the company has built this new small sedan using Manza platform, and will be launched as soon as May or June this year.
Tata Manza is already a proven and potent product at a right price, now a sub-four metre version of the similar car will be even cheaper due to lower excise duty. So we can expect the Manza based compact sedan to be at a starting price of Rs 4.5 lakh-5 lakh, making its cost almost similar to that of the segment leader Swift Dzire.
Tata Motors already has a sub-four metre Indigo CS in the market, now with one more car in the sub-4 metre space, Tata will be the first company to have two vehicles in the same segment. “The market for sub-four meter length sedan is growing. We are working on a compact car,” said a Tata Motors official.
If we talk about the competition, the sub-4 metre sedan segment already has some good cars, and soon there will be Honda's first diesel car Amaze, Mahindra & Mahindra's sub-four metre Verito and a few others. So, it will be interesting an interesting watch this year. This is all what we have for now, stay tuned to CarDekho for all the latest updates on the same. Cheers!
