Tata Motors India moves petition against Singur Act

Petition regarding the Singur land return Act was denied by the state court so Tata Motors India moved to Calcutta high court to challenge the legality of the Singur land return act. Tata Motors approached high court barely in an hour after Hooghly administration pasted the reacquisition notices on the main gate of the disputed area. This area is currently acquired for both Tata Nano factory and the vendor park and as per the reports this area belongs to Hoogly administration and they want to recover their land. The prolongation of the case has effected the production Tata Aria, Tata Indica Vista, Tata Manza,Tata Indigo.

Considering the gravity of the case,Samaraditya Pal, counsel for Tata Motors mentioned the matter to chief justice J.N. Patel at his residence. Keeping in view the  severity of the case, justice Patel assigned the matter to justice Soumitra Pal. Tata Motors have notified the state government that they are moving the petition to the high court and they have taken a stay on the disputed area so they asked the government not to disturb their possession in Singur.

After the issue of The gazette notification on the Singur Land Rehabilitation and Development Act, Hooghly administration pasted notices, signed by Hooghly DM Sripriya Rangarajan notifying that the reacquisition process will start after the hearing. Tata Motors have also pasted a notice, on the compound gates,signed by Dilip Sengupta, the firm's advisor consultant. This notice was addressed to Hooghly administration, requesting that a lead time of atleast five hours to be given before the start of any reacquisition process, to allow the company to remove valuable equipment from the site. Tata Motors has also requested Hooghly administration to issue the notice during day time so that the company officials may reach the site and can take suitable decisions.

By the time Singur BDO Pulak Sarkar and land acquisition officials arrived on the site, members of Krishi Jami Raksha Committee, led by leader Manik Das and MLAs Becharam Manna and Rabindranath Bhattacharya, had gathered at the spot. High court will have the final word regarding the possession of the disputed land.
