In the passenger segment, the manufacturer retailed 7,441 units - a decrease of 36% - as the automaker sold 11,570 vehicles in the corresponding month last year. Even the combined sales of Nano/ Indica/ Indigo failed to provide any relief as in April 2014 the company sold 5,653 nos. - lower by 37% - over 8,918 vehicles in April 2013. While in the SUV segment comprising of Sumo/ Safari/ Aria/ Venture, the automaker ventured 1,788 units – a sizeable drop of 33% - over 2,652 numbers sold in April last year.

Even the commercial class of Tata wasn't able to salvage the poor sales figures and it too witnessed a downfall of 36%. For April 2014, the figures stood at 23,229 units as compared to 36,025 vehicles sold in April last year. While the sales of Light Commercial Vehicle & M&HCV also witnessed a fall of 43% and 16% respectively. The exports of the company also registered a decline of 10%. It's not only Tata Motors, the slow growth in sales graph is noticed in a couple of other manufacturers too. Automakers such as Toyota and Maruti Suzuki also witnessed a decline in sales. Only a handful companies like Honda, Hyundai and Ford skipped the downfall and registred growth in their sales.
