The updates are related to the touchscreen system’s physical controls and alloy wheel design

  • Tata offers the standard Nexon and Nexon EV with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

  • The Nexon EV now gets a 5-spoke design for its alloy wheels.

  • The physical controls/hotkeys for the infotainment unit have now been removed from the Nexon EV as well.

  • These buttons were for Home, Favourites, Previous, Next, Smartphone, and Back while the knobs controlled volume and tuner.

  • The Nexon EV comes equipped with a 30.2kWh battery pack, a claimed range of 312km and a 129PS electric motor.

  • It is priced from Rs 13.99 lakh to Rs 16.56 lakh (ex-showroom).

In May 2021, the standard Nexon saw two minor revisions: removal of physical buttons and knobs of the infotainment system and a new design for the alloy wheels. The Nexon EV now gets the same updates.

The new alloy wheel design features a 5-spoke pattern as seen on the Nexon EV’s ICE (internal combustion engine) counterpart. Tata sells the electrified sub-4m SUV in three variants, but offers 16-inch alloy wheels only on the mid-spec XZ+ and top-spec XZ+ Lux.

Another update is the removal of the physical controls for the 7-inch touchscreen system (available on all variants) from the centre console. Instead, the electric SUV now gets Nexon lettering in its place. The six physical buttons were Home, Favourites, Previous, Next, Smartphone, and Back while the knobs controlled the volume and tuner.

The Nexon EV continues to come with rain-sensing wipers, auto-headlamps, auto AC with rear AC vents, and connected car tech. You also get two driving modes: Drive and Sport. Its safety kit includes dual front airbags, ISOFIX child seat anchorages, and ABS with EBD.

Tata offers the Nexon EV with a 30.2kWh battery pack and an electric motor (129PS/245Nm) for a claimed range of 312km. A DC fast charger can juice up the battery from 0 to 80 percent in 60 minutes.

The Nexon EV is priced between Rs 13.99 lakh and Rs 16.56 lakh (ex-showroom). Although it doesn’t have any direct rivals currently, the 2022 Mahindra XUV300 Electric will be its closest competitor. Other EVs available in India are the MG ZS EV, Hyundai Kona Electric, Mercedes-Benz EQC, Jaguar I-Pace, and the soon-to-be-launched Audi e-tron.
