With the launch of the Tiago EV, Tata now has three affordable electric cars in its lineup. In this story, we help you decipher which should be your next pick based on the most important numbers
Tata’s most affordable electric car, the Tiago EV, is fresh out of the oven, with prices ranging from Rs 8.49 lakh to Rs 11.79 lakh (introductory, ex-showroom Delhi). This makes it the third affordable EV offering in the carmaker’s portfolio and we thought it’s only fitting to pit it against its stablemates, the Tigor EV and Nexon EV (Prime and Max).
Before we delve into the technical specifications of the Tata EVs, let’s check out their dimensions:
Dimension |

Wheelbase |

Although the Tiago EV is the smallest electric vehicle here, its width is identical to the Tigor EV and taller by 4mm than the latter. The Nexon EV is the biggest on all fronts among the lot and measures as much as the Tigor EV in length.
Now, let’s take a look at their battery packs, claimed range figures and charging times:

0-80 percent in 65 minutes (25kW) |
0-80 percent in 60 mins / 0-80 percent in 56 mins (50kW) |
The Nexon EV has the largest battery pack here, followed by the Tigor EV. The Tiago EV, on the other hand, is being offered with two battery pack options, which offer 250km and 315km of range, respectively. Although the latter’s claimed range figure is more than that of the Tigor EV and Nexon EV Prime, do note that it is MIDC-certified and not by ARAI, which could have a difference in the real world. All Tata EVs can be charged using DC fast chargers but it’s the Nexon EV duo which supports 50kW fast charging capacity.

The Nexon EV is the most powerful Tata EV here. That said, the Tiago EV, with its 24kWh battery pack, offers the same amount of power as the Tigor EV but it’s the latter which provides more torque. The Tiago EV’s 75PS powertrain matches the Tigor EV’s 0-60kmph runtime of 5.7 seconds whereas the Nexon EV Max is the quickest to cover 0-100kmph sprint in 9 seconds.
