Tata Tiago

Tata has launched the Tiago at a base price of Rs. 3.20 lakh*. Call it an effect of its newly appointed CEO Mr. Guenter Butschek, or the growing competition in the small car segment, the car has been priced quite competitively. The prices go up to Rs. 4.75 lakh* and Rs 5.54 lakh* for top-end petrol and top-end diesel trims, respectively.

The latest hatchback is offered in five variants. Some of you might have decided to buy the Tiago (check our Road Test) and, to help you with the variants, we have done a model-wise analysis. Let us take a look!

Tata Tiago

1. XB trim (Rs. 3.20 lakh* for petrol and Rs. 3.94 lakh* for diesel)

XB is the base variant. Some of the features include:

  • Two drive modes: Eco and City
  • Power steering
  • Adjustable Steering Distance to empty feature (fuel)
  • Engine immobilizer
  • Body coloured bumpers
  • Foldable rear seats

The XB model is extremely basic and does not even have an air conditioner. This variant also foregoes the infotainment system. Those looking for the optional safety pack will be disappointed as this variant does not let one choose that either.

Tata Tiago

2. XE trim (Rs. 3.59 lakh* for petrol and Rs. 4.29 lakh* for diesel)

This is the second variant in the line. Key additions are:

  • Air-conditioning system
  • 12V front power outlet
  • Chrome strip on front grille
  • Availability of optional trim** (at an additional cost of Rs. 18,000)

With a price increase of Rs. 35,000–40,000, you get an air-conditioning system in the car. Another major inclusion is the availability of an optional trim where you get dual front airbags and height-adjustable driver seat. A 12V power outlet keeps your phone charged in case you have some important calls to attend.

3. XM trim (Rs. 3.89 lakh* for petrol and Rs. 4.69 lakh* for diesel)

The next model on offer is the XM trim. Here are the important attributes:

  • Power windows (front and rear)
  • Central locking
  • Rear parcel shelf
  • Interior lamps
  • Handles with coat hook
  • Availability of optional trim** (at an additional cost of Rs. 18,000)

Another Rs. 30,000–40,000 more and you get some important features like power windows and central locking. Some other minor additions like rear parcel shelf and interior lamps give the occupants a good feel.

Tata Tiago

4. XT trim (Rs. 4.19 lakh* for petrol and Rs. 4.99 lakh* for diesel)

The penultimate model is the XT. Important features include:

  • Infotainment System with four speakers
  • Rear Parking sensors
  • Body coloured Outside Rear View Mirrors (ORVMs) and door handles
  • Day and night Inner Rear View Mirror (IRVM)
  • Electric adjustment for ORVMs
  • Availability of optional trim** (at an additional cost of Rs. 18,000)

This one is for the music enthusiasts. For an extra Rs. 30,000, you add an infotainment system with rear parking sensors to your car. The two features are used extensively on a day-to-day basis and these, combined with some other useful attributes such as electric adjustment for ORVMs and day/night IRVM, make it a smart buy in our opinion.

5. XZ trim (Rs. 4.75 lakh* for petrol and Rs. 5.54 lakh* for diesel)

Tata Tiago

This is the top-end variant of the Tiago which also turns out to be our favourite. It is laden with features like:

  • Infotainment system with 4 speakers + 4 tweeters
  • Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD)
  • Corner Stability Control (CSC)
  • Steering-mounted audio and phone controls
  • Front fog lamps
  • Rear wiper with wash
  • Rear defogger
  • One Touch power window (on driver-side)
  • Body coloured air vents
  • Boot lamp

This variant is costlier by Rs. 55,000, but then there is no need for the extra safety pack as it is already incorporated in this variant. It also gets safety features such as ABS with EBD and CSC, which are exclusive to the XZ trim. Alloy wheels and chrome garnish at various places like air vents and fog lamps give an elite feel to the buyer. The competition is surely gonna soar with the Tiago's entry and it's time to wait and watch how things unfold in future.

We hope that you found our model-wise breakdown of the Tiago helpful. Tell us what you think about the variants in the comments below!

* Prices are ex-showroom, New Delhi

** Safety pack consists of dual front airbags, height-adjustable driver seat, adjustable front headrests, and seat belts with load limiters
