Tata Tigor EV Prices Revealed, But There’s A Catch

The Tigor EV comes with a certified 142km range on a single charge as per Modified Indian Driving Cycle (MIDC)

Tata Tigor EV

Tata has announced the prices of the Tigor EV, which was showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo. It is priced from Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom) and is available in two mid-spec variants of the standard Tigor subcompact sedan. However, the Tigor EV can only be registered for fleet operation. Personal registrations are not being accepted as of now.

Prices of the Tigor EV include TCS, DPCC (Delhi Pollution Control Committee) incentive (in Delhi only) and the government's FAME II incentive. Still, its prices in Delhi make it nearly Rs 3.6 lakh and Rs 3.15 lakh dearer than equivalent petrol-AMT and diesel variants of the Tigor.

The Tigor EV, which looks nearly identical to the standard model, packs a 40PS (30kW) electric motor making 105Nm of torque. It has a range of just over 140km as per the Modified Indian Driving Cycle (MIDC) and its top speed is limited to 80kmph. Charging from a standard AC socket will take around 6 hours, while DC fast charging will take nearly 90 mins for the battery levels to go from 0 to 80 per cent. The Tigor EV is offered in just three colour options (while, blue and silver), whereas the standard car is available in six. The Tigor EV comes with a 3-year/1,25,000km warranty.

Both variants have pretty much the same equipment, save for the alloy wheels and electrically adjustable outside rearview mirrors. It comes with a non-touch display and a Bluetooth-enabled sound system seen on the equivalent variants of the standard Tigor. The top-spec XZ+ variant of the standard Tigor, however, packs a 7-inch touchscreen with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support. On the other hand, the Tigor EV comes with auto climate control, whereas the standard Tigor only offers it in the top-spec XZ+. Safety features like dual front airbags, ABS, rear parking sensors are standard.
