Update: Tata has showcased the entry level hatchback Zica at the 2016 Auto Expo that will take on other popular hatchbacks in the country including Chevrolet Beat, Maruti Suzuki Celerio and Hyundai i10. Audiences may not have to wait too long to get their hands on the newly launched hatchback with its release scheduled in two weeks. With company’s very own ConnectNext infotainment system, segment first 8 speaker system and alternatives for diesel and naturally aspirated motor, Tata Zica looks pretty strong to make a big impact. Check out the Auto Expo reveal, image gallery and more.
Tata is prepped up to re-enter the entry level hatchback segment with the upcoming Zica. This new offering will sit below Bolt and will compete majorly with Maruti Suzuki Celerio along with Chevrolet Beat and others. Besides the Zica, Tata will also launch a compact sedan based on the same platform. Both of these products are technically the spiritual successor of two of Tata’s models, Indica (eV2) and country’s first compact sedan - Indigo CS (eCS). For the price analysis, we are pitting Tata Tiago aka Zica against its rivals!
The hatch is expected to be launched this month before its twin compact sedan. However, Tata may also launch both these models at the upcoming 2016 Auto Expo in February. Tata has put all the right elements to make this upcoming Zica a hit. Starting with the features, the vehicle is loaded to the brim as compared to the other offering in this segment and it comes with brand new petrol and diesel engines. Coming to the dimensions, Zica is the longest car in the segment! Furthermore, right pricing will also make a lot of difference and it is expected that Tata will price it competitively undercutting its arch rival Maruti Suzuki Celerio. Lets us see how Tata prices this 'Zippy Car', stay tuned for more!
