Update: Tata has showcased the entry level hatchback Zica at the 2016 Auto Expo that will take on other popular hatchbacks in the country including Chevrolet Beat, Maruti Suzuki Celerio and Hyundai i10. Audiences may not have to wait too long to get their hands on the newly launched hatchback with its release scheduled in two weeks. With company’s very own ConnectNext infotainment system, segment first 8 speaker system and alternatives for diesel and naturally aspirated motor, Tata Zica looks pretty strong to make a big impact. For a while now, Tata motors has been lacking the grit to get back and capture the market. Zest and Bolt, although good products, have failed to impress the average Indian customer. So, Tata seems to be going all out with its latest offering Tiago a.k.a. Zica. Based on an all-new design and platform, the Zica is the only hope of Tata’s revival in the segment. Adding to the goodies offered with the car, a Tata official confirmed that Zica will be equipped with an AMT variant in the near future.
According to a report in Business Standard, Girish Wagh, senior vice president, programme planning and management (passenger cars), Tata Motors said, “Today, more than half of the GenX Nano numbers comes from the AMT variant. We will provide Zica with AMT when the model gets absorbed in the market and is ready for its next stage of growth.”
Zica comes with a new entertainment unit powered by Harman like in the company’s ConnectNext line-up. This system has Bluetooth, USB and Aux-in connectivity, which is paired to a segment-first, eight-speaker setup (4 speakers and 4 tweeters). The customers will also get two new applications, viz. Navigation app and the Juke-Car app to make music streaming seamless. Tata Zica is powered by three-cylinder petrol and diesel engines belonging to Tata’s Revotron and Revotorq family. The petrol unit is a 1.2-liter Revotron, 3-cylinder 4 valve MPFi capable of producing 85PS at 6000rpm and 114Nm of torque at 3500rpm. The diesel engine is a 1.05-liter Revotorq, 3-cylinder, CRAIL engine which produces 70PS at 4000rpm and 140Nm of torque at 1800-3000rpm. Know All About Tata Zica Here
