The Tata Nexon EV has been on sale in India since January 2020. Tata is now offering the electrified sub-4m SUV in Nepal in partnership with Sipradi Trading and has priced it from NPR 35.99 lakh (equivalent to Rs 22.50 lakh). Prospective buyers can book the electric vehicle for NPR 25,000.
Like its Indian counterpart, customers in Nepal can also have the Nexon EV in three trims: XM, XZ+, and XZ+ Lux. However, the recently introduced Dark Edition is on sale only in India. Tata is offering the same battery and vehicle warranties on the Nepal-spec Nexon EV as the Indian version: 8-year/1.60 lakh km and 3-year/1.25 lakh km respectively.
Tata has equipped the Nexon EV with a 30.2kWh battery pack and an electric motor (129PS/245Nm) for a claimed range of 312km. A DC fast charger can juice up the battery from 0 to 80 percent in 60 minutes. The carmaker will also be setting up an EV ecosytem including installation of DC chargers across the country and home charging solutions.
In terms of features, the electrified Nexon gets rain-sensing wipers, connected car tech, auto AC with rear AC vents, and auto headlamps. It also comes with two drive modes: Drive and Sport. The Nexon EV’s safety features include dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, and rear parking sensors.
In India, the Nexon EV is priced from Rs 13.99 lakh to Rs 16.85 lakh (ex-showroom). Although it doesn’t have any direct rivals currently, the 2022 Mahindra XUV300 Electric will be its closest competitor. Other EVs available in India are the MG ZS EV, Hyundai Kona Electric, Mercedes-Benz EQC, Jaguar I-Pace, and the recently launched Audi e-tron.
