The 13th Maruti Suzuki Raid-de-Himalayas enters its fourth leg

The 13th Maruti Suzuki Raid-de-Himalayas, one of the most exciting motorsport rallies in India, entered its fourth leg today. The rally now has headed towards Kargil and the contestants will travel a distance of 320 kms in this leg. This is the most challenging phase which tests the endurance levels of the vehicles and even participants.
In the 3rd leg of the 13th Maruti Suzuki Raid-de-Himalayas the competitors traveled a stretch of 490 kms in abt 18 hours or so. The rally crossed picturesque but grilling places like Kheri, Pepdi, Bani, Chatergala pass, Bhaderwah, Kishtwar, Mughal Maidan, Sin Than Pass, Anantnag and Srinagar. The stretch offered over 300 km of off road experience.
In the adventure stream the Raheja brothers continue to lead, while veteran ace motorsports winner Suresh Rana leads the X-treme category. The rally heads to Rangdum today. By the end of leg 3 three vehicle (Xenon, Xylo and Safari) break downs were reported in adventure category.
The rally was flagged of on 11th Oct 2011 from Shimla and will now culminate at Srinagar on 16th Oct 2011.
This year the rally will cover a distance of 2000 kms in 6 legs spread over 6 days will make its participants undertake a treacherous route through various crests & troughs embedded in the great western Himalayan ranges.

1) Umesh Raheja/Raheja leads in his Grand Vitara - 4.08 min
2) Sanjay Takle/ChandraShekhar is second with Safari - 10.24 min
3) Joshy - 10.40 min
