Compared to the India-spec version, the 2024 Suzuki Swift is slightly longer but has the same wheelbase. However, it is much narrower and shorter than the Maruti Swift, which could result in less space inside the cabin for passengers. That said, Maruti could tweak its suspension and ride height for a slightly taller appeal when it launches the updated Swift in India.
Powertrain
Maruti could offer the latest version of Swift in India with the all-new 3-cylinder 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine showcased at the Japan Mobility Show. This engine is expected to offer more torque than the current Maruti Swift’s 4-cylinder 1.2-litre petrol engine (90 PS/ 113 Nm).

While the new-gen Swift, in the international market, will offer a CVT automatic, the India-spec version will most likely continue with the 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT options. Globally, it also comes with the choice of all-wheel-drive but it will stay limited to front-wheel-drive for India.
Features & Safety
Not just the design and powertrain, the features list has also been updated. The new-gen Swift comes with a new cabin layout sporting a bigger 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, semi-digital driver’s display, cruise control, automatic climate control, multiple airbags, electronic stability control (ESC) and ADAS features including blind spot detection.
Launch, Price & Rivals
The new-generation Maruti Swift could be launched in India by early next year at an expected starting price of Rs 6 lakh (ex-showroom). It will continue to rival the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and will be an alternative to similarly priced models like the Renault Triber, Maruti Wagon R and Maruti Ignis.
