The Shine MT (petrol) is Rs 35,000 more expensive than the one-below Super MT (petrol) variant. In the case of diesel, this gap is larger at Rs 50,000. Compared to the one-above Smart variant, the Shine MT (diesel) is Rs 1.3 lakh less expensive. The Shine CVT has now become the new entry-level automatic offering, and is Rs 1.28 kakh less expensive than the next-in-line Smart CVT/DCT variant.
The new Shine variant builds on the feature list of the one-below Super variant. You now get telescopic adjustment for the steering wheel, chrome outside door handles, push-button start/stop, electric parking brake, keyless entry using the smart key, and a sunroof. The sunroof however is not the panoramic unit from the top-spec Sharp variant, but rather a single-pane unit. The caveat in all of this is that except for the sunroof, all of the feature additions are only applicable to the Shine CVT variant.
MG is also offering a dedicated accessories package for the Shine variant, which will include leather seat covers, an air purifier, a wireless charger, 3D floor mats, leather wrap for the steering wheel, and window sunshades. The carmaker is also offering a new paint scheme called Havana Greyfor all the variants of the SUV except for the base Style.
With the introduction of this new Shine variant, the MG Hector renews its rivalry against the likes of the Tata Harrier, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Skoda Kushaq.
