Three much-awaited models from three different brands will arrive in the first 10 days itself
Update (10/07/23): Hyundai has launched the Exter at a starting price of Rs 5.99 lakh (introductory, ex-showroom).
The month of July will be special and exciting for the buyers, due to three BIG launches from the biggest carmakers in the country. Maruti, Kia, and Hyundai are prepping for their important launches, while we also have premium carmakers like Mercedes Benz, Audi, and BMW ready to inject some fresh luxury into the country.
Here are all the details you need to know about these six cars:
Facelifted Kia Seltos
In the first week of July itself, we will see the debut of the new and improved Kia Seltos. The compact SUV is finally receiving a major upgrade after four years of being on sale. It will get a fresh life with redesigned exterior and interior profiles. The changes will be significant, giving the Seltos a much more premium and modern appeal.
In terms of features, it’s gaining a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, and radar-based ADAS safety technology. We’re also expecting dual 10.25-inch displays for the touchscreen system and digital instrument cluster along with heated front seats.
Under the hood will be the Carens and Verna’s 160PS 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine, with the choice of a 6-speed iMT (expected) and a 7-speed DCT (dual-clutch automatic). Its existing 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines will also be offered, both with the choice of manual and automatic transmissions.
Maruti Invicto
Just a day later, we will see the launch of the Maruti Invicto, the costliest Maruti ever. The Invicto MPV is a rebadged Toyota Innova Hycross, but with minimal styling tweaks inside and out.
It will also be the most premium Maruti with niceties such as panoramic sunroof, a 10-inch touchscreen system, dual-zone AC, ventilated front seats, and second-row powered Ottoman seats. Not only that, but it will be the first Maruti car to get the ADAS safety feature.
The Maruti Invicto is most likely to be offered with the Hycross’ 2-litre strong-hybrid petrol powertrain, which on the Innova, claims up to 23.24kmpl. The naturally aspirated petrol engine without any electric assistance is likely to be skipped on the Invicto.
Hyundai Exter
Hyundai’s brand-new entry-level SUV is set to go on sale this month. The Hyundai Exter micro SUV is basically a gym-going Grand i10 Nios. It will be positioned below the Venue, but will be priced similar to the hatchback it’s based on.
In terms of features, it gets an electric sunroof, an 8-inch touchscreen system, automatic AC, cruise control, and a digital driver’s display. Safety-wise, it will be equipped with six airbags, ESC, TPMS, and ISOFIX child seat mounts as standard.
Hyundai is offering the Grand i10 Nios’ same 1.2-litre petrol engine onboard the Exter. It shall get the choice of 5-speed manual and AMT transmissions, while there’ll also be the option of CNG.
Facelifted Mercedes Benz GLC
The Mercedes-Benz GLC is one of the most popular SUVs for the German marquee in India. The carmaker recently teased the facelifted version of the SUV, which we believe could go on sale this month.
The facelifted GLC will get a revolutionary design upgrade, which will make it look sleeker, more aggressive and sportier and more in line with the latest generation of sedans. The interior will receive the new C-Class-inspired cabin design look, for a classier and upmarket appeal. Feature additions would mainly be a new digital driver’s display and the large portrait-styled 11.9-inch touchscreen system with the MBUX system.
We’re expecting the same 2-litre turbo-petrol and diesel engines onboard, but with the addition of 48V mild-hybrid technology.
Facelifted BMW X5
We’re expecting the launch of the facelifted BMW X5 sometime this month, as per our exclusive reports. The luxury SUV will get a subtle visual upgrade on the outside, but the interior will see a much-needed fresh life.
The overall cabin layout of the X5 has been refreshed for a more posh experience. Grabbing your eyes will be the dual curved displays, housing a 12.3-inch infotainment system and a 14.9-inch diagonal instrument cluster, powered by i-Drive 8. A cool feature upgrade will be the parking assistant, which allows you to take the X5 in and out of tight parking spots with your phone.
It’s expected to retain the 3-litre petrol and diesel engines with AWD as standard, from the outgoing version.
Audi Q8 e-tron
Audi’s flagship electric SUV, the e-Tron is likely to get the facelift as well. The styling changes won’t be too comprehensive, but it will carry the ‘Q8’ prefix from now on. It’s expected to be offered in Sportback and SUV styles as earlier.
The main upgrade will be related to the battery and performance. It will be now offered with 89kWh and 106kWh battery packs, with a claimed range of up to 600 kilometres. The Q8 e-Tron will also see a significant increase in the power and torque figures.
