Toyota Rumion, a rebadged version of the Maruti Ertiga, is slated to enter the Indian market sometime later this year. The Toyota MPV will likely come to India in its latest avatar which was recently launched in South Africa carrying some design changes.
India-spec Rumion
Unlike older Maruti and Toyota models, like the Baleno and Glanza, which look almost identical to each other, the newer ones carry some design elements to differentiate their looks. When the Rumion was first introduced back in 2021 as a rebadged Ertiga, it was only differentiated by the three-bar chrome grille. The 2023 Rumion gets a new front profile which seems to be inspired by the Toyota Innova Hycross.

The India-spec Rumion will most likely get the same updated design featuring a new grille, a differently styled front bumper, and a new set of alloy wheels. The rear and the side profiles are identical to the previous version of the Rumion, and also to the Ertiga.
Powertrain
In the international market, the Toyota Rumion gets the same powertrain as the Maruti Ertiga: a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. This unit churns out 104PS and 138Nm, and is paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission.

The India-spec Rumion will likely feature the same engine. However, it could get a 6-speed torque converter instead of the 4-speed automatic.
Features & Safety
The Rumion MPV comes with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, cruise control, dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, hill hold, vehicle stability control (VSC) and ISOFIX child seat anchors. The same list of features is expected on the India-spec model, except the infotainment unit which is a 7-inch unit for the Maruti Ertiga.
Price & Rivals
The Toyota Rumion could enter India sometime this festive season at an expected starting price of Rs 9 lakh (ex-showroom). It will be a direct rival to the Maruti Ertiga, while also being an affordable alternative to more premium MPVs like the Toyota Innova Crysta and Kia Carens.
