One is a luxurious sedan and the other is a rugged high-rider, both of which command over half a crore rupees, on-road
If you are someone who’s in the market today looking for a premium experience without entering the luxury space, chances are you will stumble upon the Toyota Fortuner Legender and the Toyota Camry. Although both the Toyota cars are priced in close quarters, at around the Rs 46 lakh (ex-showroom) mark, they cater to a completely different set of buyers. Where the Camry focuses more on executive luxury, the SUV urges to be taken on tough terrains.
Given their price overlap, we decided to check out what’s common between the two and what each of them offers over the other.

The Camry, being a flagship sedan in Toyota India’s lineup, comes with a lot of bells and whistles, including many unique features, over the Fortuner Legender. These include the ones mentioned above along with a strong-hybrid 2.5-litre petrol powertrain with an electric motor (218PS combined output), coupled to a CVT gearbox. It offers sufficient performance and impressive fuel economy.

The Fortuner Legender, while not being as technology-loaded as the luxury sedan, also packs a few unique features as the one mentioned above.
Another big advantage that the SUV has over the Camry is that it gets a torquey 204PS/500Nm 2.8-litre diesel engine mated to a 6-speed AT. Toyota also offers the Fortuner Legender with both rear-wheel-drive (RWD) and 4-wheel-drive (4WD) options. The SUV is equipped with active traction control as well.

Toyota has ensured that both these top-of-the-line premium models come with features like ventilated front seats, powered tailgates, and LED lighting, all of which is par for the course given their prices. Both come with 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in very different types of rubber for distinguished road presence.
That said, both have their own uniqueness thanks to the niceties that are on offer with each: a plethora of comfort and convenience features, luxurious cabin and hybrid powertrain in the Camry vis-à-vis the 4x4 drivetrain and diesel engine option on the SUV.
