Toyota Etios diesel launch slated for September?

Toyota Etios sedan is back in the news! It is speculated that Toyota Motors India could soon launch the diesel version of Toyota Etios sedan around September 2011. This is surely a very good news for all the consumers who were eagerly waiting for the diesel version of Toyota Etios sedan.

However, this news is purely a rumor till now as there has been no confirmation from Toyota Motors India so far. The diesel version of Toyota Etios sedan will surely strengthen its position in the Indian auto market. Currently the C-Segment of the Indian auto market is ruled by Mahindra Verito, Maruti Swift Dzire, Ford Fiesta Classic, Tata Indigo Manza and Hyundai Accent.

But if the Toyota Etios diesel launch takes place this September, it will definitely give its rivals a run for their money. As far as the price of the Toyota Etios Sedan diesel version is concerned, it could be expected to be around Rs. 70,000 or it could also rumored to cost Rs.1 Lakh more than the petrol version.Speculations suggest that the Toyota Etios diesel version will come affixed with 1.4 litre of D-4D CRDI motor along with geometry turbo to amplify the torque and power. It is expected that Toyota Etios diesel engine will churn out around 70 to 80 bhp of power and 180 to 190 Nm of torque.

The petrol version of Toyota Etios sedan comes with 5 speed gear box and it could be possible that the diesel variant of this sedan will be accompanied with 6 speed manual transmissions. The diesel version will become the main selling point of the new Toyota Etios sedan, as the petrol prices are sky rocketing.
