The Toyota Innova Hycross was launched back in December 2022. In the days preceding the launch, it was revealed that the Toyota MPV will have a Maruti counterpart too, which is likely to be called the “Engage” as per trademarks. We now have the first confirmation from Maruti about the MPV as the carmaker has shared that the MPV will be unveiled on July 5.
What We Know So Far
Like other recent shared models between Toyota and Maruti, the Innova Hycross-based people carrier will likely feature some visual differences front and rear, as well as a distinct upholstery. It will be positioned as the new flagship offering in Maruti’s lineup, above the Grand Vitara, as the top-of-the-line and costliest Maruti car on sale. It will also be the third MPV in the carmaker’s lineup of people movers, following the Ertiga and XL6.
This will be the first time that Maruti will be experimenting with offering an MPV having most of its variants above the Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom) mark. Buyers who wish to stick with the well connected carmaker while looking for a premium MPV will no longer have to look elsewhere.

A Tested Set Of Powertrains
Maruti’s version of the Toyota Innova Hycross will feature the same powertrain options. As standard, the MPV comes with a 2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine (174PS/205Nm), mated to a CVT. The Toyota MPV is also provided with a strong-hybrid powertrain using a 186PS (combined) 2-litre petrol engine and an electric motor. It is paired with an e-CVT, offering over 21kmpl of claimed mileage.
Features Aplenty
Like Toyota, the Maruti MPV’s features list will encompass a 10-inch touchscreen unit, dual-zone climate control, a digital driver’s display, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, and powered front and second row seats with ottoman functionality for the latter.
Its safety kit will pack up to six airbags, a 360-degree camera, electronic stability control (ESC), hill-start and descent assists, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
