Toyota Kirloskar Motor registers 84% growth in sales

Toyota Kirloskar Motor registered sales of 11693 units in Aug 2011 as compared to 6361 units in Aug 2010. The company sales grew by 84 % when compared to the corresponding period last year. Mr. Sandeep Singh, Deputy Managing Director, Marketing, TKM said, “We have registered a growth of 84% in Aug sales. The growth is primarily led by our flagship model Innova and our latest offering Etios and Etios Liva. Last month we sold 2710 and 2824 units of Etios and Etios Liva respectively. We thank our customers for their encouraging response to the Etios and Etios Liva. We are now looking forward to the festival season.

Toyota wishes all its customers a happy festive season.” The Innova recorded sales of 4305 units.The Corolla Altis and Fortuner recorded a sales of 913 units and 897 units respectively. The company rolled out Toyota Etios Liva hatchback in the month of June, however it did not get the kind of response the company anticipated, this may be due to the lack of diesel variant. Toyota India recently asserted the launch of diesel variants of Toyota Etios sedan and Toyota Etios Liva hatchback, which is slated on September 9, 2011.

The company expects to ramp up sales with the addition of diesel variants in its portfolio in India. The continual rise in petrol prices led to this decision , apart from that other auto majors have either launched the diesel variants of their popular models or have slashed the price of their popular cars in order to rev up the sales volume.
