Toyota Motor Corp is all ready to sell a low-cost car in Thailand. The company is also planning to launch few similar products in China, Brazil and India. The reason behind such launches is that the biggest car maker of the world wants to boost its growth in the emerging auto markets. It will be the 21st century Toyota Corolla, said Executive Vice President Yukitoshi Funo. He was referring to the world’s best-selling car that the company had launched in 1966. He said that they have to enter into the large-volume zone of the emerging markets. In Thailand, Toyota is the leading car maker  while in the fast-growing economies like Brazil and India, the company lags behind its chief rivals. If the company adds some cheaper models to its array of products, it may help Toyota Motor Corp. in raising its sales in China which is the largest auto market of the world.

Funo further commented that they desire to offer a car which is in reach of working people. The low-cost car of Toyota will target a novel emerging middle class of the developing countries which will be quite unlike the Nissan Micra or Nissan March as they call it in the European market. Nissan Micra hatchback has been designed for the emerging and developing markets. This Japan-based auto maker increased 0.4 per cent to ¥2,975 on the Tokyo Stock Exchange. The stock has fallen twenty three per cent in the year 2010.

In India, this low-cost car of Toyota will be known as the Toyota Etios and it will be on sale in December. This new version of the company may come with the price tag of around '450,000 ($10,070). On the other hand, the sedan version may come with the additional cost of  '80,000, commented Deepesh Rathore, managing director of IHS Global Insight India. Another popular product of the company, Toyota Corolla is sold in fifty two countries and the total global sales have now reached over thirty six million vehicles in the forty four years since its launch.
