Toyota Prius to come in India

After much speculation, Toyota Prius, the hybrid vehicle, to be launched in India in early next year. The news is confirmed by the company officials but they denied to introduce any hybrid small car in India. Kazuo Okamoto, Vice-Chairman, Toyota Motor Corporation, told that there is no plan related to introduce hybrid small car in the country. On the other hand, the highest selling hybrid model of TMC, Toyota Prius, will be launched by early next year. The company might launch a small car in the market in 2011. Currently, Toyota has over a dozen hybrid car models in its stable. It includes Camry, Harrier, Estima, Lexus, Toyota Prius, Highlander and Crown. However, Toyota sells Toyota Camry, Toyota Corolla Altis and Toyota Innova in India through a joint venture with the Kirloskar Group. Volkswagen Polo and Skoda Yeti are scheduled to be launched in India very soon.
