There is another piece of information on Toyota Etios twins though totally irrelevant to the one from early this morning. It is more on the mechanical issue the Toyota India found out proactively in the Etios twins before the consumers could point out. Apparently, the Toyota Etios sedan and Etios Liva hatchback are found with some faulty bit of manufacturing especially in the lot rolled out before October 8th, this year. So, the Toyota India recalls the two models for a ‘special service campaign’ where the filler hose problem recently found in the Etios twins will be sorted out by the auto major.

Now, the consumers are informed about this manufacturing issue and are requested to come up with their cars bearing a production date of October 8th or before. After a prolonged study of the Indian car market, the auto major first came up with the cheapest car, Toyota Etios sedan followed by Toyota Etios Liva hatchback in the petrol variant alone. Now, this obviously means that the car manufacturer has to compromise somewhere to keep the costs down. More than anything else, the engine powering the car is a little disturbing especially to those who are more accustomed to the usual Toyota image. The cheaper shabby looking interiors might be a let-down to a certain extent but not when the Toyota Etios price is there in the equation.

However, the trump card was the diesel variants of the Toyota Etios sedan and the Toyota Etios Liva hatchback. While the auto major is taking a sigh of relief now that the sales are on a steady uphill, this mechanical problem arose out of the blue. This makes one wonder is this faulty piece of engineering because Toyota India pushed a little too much to get the costs down. Remember, Tata Motors was also blamed for some engine related issue with its cheapest car Tata Nano. On the other hand, Toyota India should not forget its remarkable growth in the country with the two weapons in hand. Toyota Motors is just on the brink of exporting the two cars meant ideally for India to the South African markets. What more, if Toyota India lives true to its word it might come up with a new SUV based on the Toyota Etios platform.
