Toyota retains world's top selling automaker position

Toyota, the Japanese automaker has once again outsold its closest competitor General Motors in the sales for the first nine months of this year. The company sold 7.41 million vehicles, little change from the previous year, but leaving General Motors behind to keep its lead as the world's top-selling automaker.
General Motors announced that it sold 7.25 million vehicles in the period of nine months, January to September 2013. The company managed to get a growth rate of 4.6 percent from a year earlier, but it didn't succeed to defeat the Japanese automaker.
Toyota reported a sales growth of just 0.1 per cent for the first three quarters of this year. The company said that it sold about 2.5 million cars, trucks and buses in the July - September quarter, lead by overseas growth.
Volkswagen, the German car brand grabbed third position in the list of world's top selling automakers. The company sold over 7 million vehicles worldwide during the first nine months.. Its global sales increased almost 5 per cent during the first three quarters from last year.
