Toyota to produce Prius at its Motomachi factory

Toyota Motors, world's largest car manufacturer is all set to manufacture its Prius hybrid model at its third factory in Japan. It is expected that the manufacturing of the model will start in the first week of the September this year to cut down the long delivery time to
its buyers, as per the Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun newspaper.
Company launched the
Toyota Prius model in India in the month of January this year at the Auto Expo held at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. Though the car is not available in market as it takes about three months to deliver a Toyota Puris model to customers in India. The third generation Prius model has become very popular in Toyota's
Domestic market Japan, where the model has been acquiring the top position in the best-selling chart since past nine month. The subsidy and tax benefits provided by the government for fuel efficient cars in Japan have played a significant role in success of Prius model in Japan.
According to the industry news paper in Japan, Toyota Motors currently manufactures about 50,000 units per month in total at its Tsutsumi factory and at unit Toyota Auto Body Co. Company also has plans to manufacture prius model at its Motomachi factory.
Toyota Motors recalled most of its hybrid models including Toyota Prius worldwide due to some acceleration related problems and complaints about sticking paddles in these models. However, these safety recalls haven't affected the demand of the model in India as company is receiving a significant number of bookings for Toyota Prius model since its launch in January.
