Toyota’s SUV Fortuner to be launched by September

The world largest carmaker Toyota, which is present in India through a joint venture with the Kirloskar Group, is planning to launch its sports utility vehicle (SUV) in India by September this year. The company officials said on Wednesday that the price tag would be at about 20 lakh. A three-litre advanced common-rail diesel engine will be the special feature. The Fortuner is an important addition to our product line-up in India and we are currently in the process of finalising details for the launch, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) Deputy Managing Director Sandeep Singh said in a statement. Fortuner would be brought into the country as a knocked down unit and would be assembled at TKM's Bidadi plant. TKM is currently constructing its second manufacturing facility in Bangalore at an investment of Rs 3,200 crore to launch a strategic small car in India by 2011.
