Things lately are not turning into the favour of Chevrolet, as for the past couple of years, the automaker is only able to clock some 4 to 5 thousand units a month that too, majorly backed by the numbers of Beat hatch and taxi favourite, Tavera. Other products in the lineup such as Sail hatch, Sail sedan, Cruze, Captiva, Enjoy failed to impress with good numbers. With sales dropping, the brand backed by gargantuan General Motor Group is now planning to induce facelift of ongoing models along with introduction of all new cars. Lets focus on Chevy’s upcoming cars in 2015.
Chevrolet Trailblazer
In the recent dealers meet in Bangkok, GM India announced the arrival of Trailblazer SUV in upcoming months. The SUV will lock horns with the Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, Ford Endeavour and Hyundai Santa Fe in the full fledged SUV segment. The automaker will offer the Trailblazer in both two wheel drive and four wheel drive options. Powering the SUV will be 2.5-litre and 2.8-litre engine giving respective power of 148bhp and 180bhp.
Chevrolet Spin
In the same event, the American carmaker has also revealed that it will bring the Spin MPV by next year. The Spin MPV will be pitched against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Honda Mobilio and thus will be completely different from Tavera MPV. Also the Spin MPV will be larger when compared to Enjoy and will be offered with three rows to accommodate seven passengers. Under the hood, we expect Spin to carry 1.3-litre diesel engine giving an output of 88bhp. We also expect it to be available in petrol guise.
Chevrolet Cruze
Though globally, even the next gen Cruze is available, but we’ll only have to satisfy with the facelift version of the ongoing car. The new Cruze will compete against the likes of recently updated Volkswagen Jetta, Skoda Octavia, new Toyota Corolla Altis, Renault Fluence and Hyundai Elantra. The updated model now features designing cues inspired from the Impala. The “Dual Port” grille, redesigned bumper with 'L' shaped chrome appliqué houses the day-time-running-LED's (only offered in LT and LTZ), and the tail and head lamp too received subtle changes. There's new set of alloys. GM says that the car will be offered with variety of new shades and interior trim.
Chevrolet Compact Sedan
In the already crowded compact sedan segment, Chevrolet too is bringing its new product codenamed MCM. Based on Beat hatch, the sedan will feature more sharper looks than hatch. The engine specs are yet to be confirmed by the company but expect it to carry 1.3-litre diesel and 1.2-litre petrol engine. Also the diesel engine will be most probably Fiat sourced Multijet.
Chevy Compact SUV Adra
First showcased at last year’s Delhi Auto Expo, this compact SUV will be launched to tap the sales of Ford EcoSport and Renault Duster. At the exterior, the car gets signatory Chevy front grille with bow-tie, chrome accents, five spokes alloy wheels, a flat roof and a unique greenhouse. While under the hood, the compact SUV might use the 1.2-litre Ecotec engine along with the 1.3-litre diesel engine.
