The upcoming Tata Hexa will be getting the ‘Super Drive Modes’ feature, which will boost the driving experience of customers. That said, the Hexa will become the first Tata vehicle to get such an option.
Super Drive Modes is an interesting feature which works in tandem with a vehicle’s engine performance, its Electronic Stability Program (ESP), ambient lighting and instrument cluster. It kicks in as soon as you turn on the rotary knob placed on the centre console.
In the Super Drive Modes, you can select from among four different driving modes on offer – Auto, Comfort, Dynamic and Rough Road. These modes enhance the user experience by giving him/her optimal settings to choose for different road conditions.
Girish Wagh, senior vice-president – Program Planning & Program Management, passenger vehicles, Tata Motors, said, “At Tata Motors we have always been at the fore-front of providing a rich and dynamic driving experience to our customers through our product innovations and the new Tata Hexa reinforces this commitment. Specially developed by Tata Motors engineering team in collaboration with our technology partners, the new Tata Hexa will deliver an excellent, unforgettable customer experience. With a new-generation ESP system accessible through the new Super Drive Modes, the feature allows the driver to select one of the four modes, allowing the vehicle to regulate the engine, based on the terrain and different customer needs and desires.”
The upcoming Hexa promises to be an upmarket vehicle with contemporary styling, plush interiors and class-leading features. Its automatic version too is equipped with first-in-segment race car mapping, which returns the performance similar to racing cars.
How the different modes work:
Auto Mode: In this mode, the Hexa’s performance is optimised to adapt to any terrain, with focus on the traction, power and safety.
Comfort Mode: Under this mode, the vehicle’s power is tuned towards giving a comfortable riding experience, with cruising speeds on highways. It’s ideal for long journeys.
Dynamic Mode: As soon as you switch to this mode, the engine seems to get a new lease of life, with sumptuous power and acceleration kicking into action. The new ESP system turns on to ensure that safety is taken care of as you enjoy the sporty ride.
Rough Road Mode: The Rough Road mode improves the braking mechanism and is perfect for off-road terrain or while overcoming obstacles. A special focus is given to the ride quality of the car.
Tata Motors has seen good transformation in its brand value amongst the young buyers with the niche products it’s bringing into the Indian market. It started with the Zest and the Bolt which did not meet the expectations. Especially the Bolt hatchback, which was launched to compete with the Swift. But clearly the battle Tata Bolt vs Swift, has won by the Swift hatchback. And, of late, the Tiago has been gaining an impressive market share. The Hexa looks promising with the features on board. However, with established players like the Toyota Innova Crysta and the Mahindra XUV 500, life’s going to be tough for the Tata MPV. The Hexa price is expected to start around Rs 12 lakh.
