Updated Ford EcoSport Spied Testing in India

Ford India is testing the 2016 EcoSport which recently went on to order in the European market. The updated EcoSport was first showcased earlier this year at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. The compact SUV has received subtle aesthetic updates, optional new tailgate without the spare wheel, uprated 1.5-liter TDCi engine along with mechanical upgrades and improved NVH levels (Noise, vibration, and harshness). The company is testing the new EcoSport here because the vehicle is exported to European countries from Ford’s Chennai plant. 

Apart from the optional removal of the spare wheel, the 1.5-litre TDCi diesel in the EcoSport has received a power bump. The oil burner now produces 95 PS from the current 90 PS, nearly a 5 PS bump. Mechanically, it received  revised springs, dampers, rear torsion beam along with updated Electronic Stability Programme, and Electronic Power Assisted Steering settings. Ford promises ‘Significant improvements’ in the driving dynamics of the updated EcoSport. 

Speaking of the refreshed cabin, 2016 EcoSport gets a new steering wheel, piano black accents (instead of silver) and chrome detailing. The SYNC’s display has been updated, it now features a bigger 4-inch colour display. Moreover, the NVH levels have further reduced with new and thicker sound deadening materials.

Adding on its India launch, EcoSport was launched in 2013 and update is expected soon, Ford might add all the new updates to the EcoSport’s Indian version except for the optional tailgate, because Indians admire that in it!
