Looks like Land Rover had one last parting gift for the year up its sleeve. The British SUV maker has taken wraps off the 2017 version of the baby Range Rover - the Evoque.
The Prices
The updated Evoque is available in six variants. Here's a detailed look at the pricing:
- Pure: Rs 49.10 Lakh
- SE: Rs 54.20 Lakh
- Dynamic: Rs 56.30 Lakh
- HSE : Rs 59.25 Lakh
- HSE Dynamic : Rs 64.65 Lakh
- HSE Dynamic Ember Edition: Rs 67.90 Lakh
It is good to note, that prices have remained more or less unchanged with the update. Notably, the Evoque is available with a diesel engine only at the moment. The Si4 petrol version will be launched in January 2017.
What's new?
The biggest update for the MY17 Evoque lies under the hood. The 2.2-litre SD4 engine has been given the boot, for the all-new all-aluminium 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel, that also powers the Jaguar XF. The four-cylinder engine produces 180PS of power and 430Nm of torque. For reference, that is 10PS less, and 10Nm more compared to the outgoing SD4 engine. Interestingly, unlike the Jaguar XF that gets an 8-speed gearbox, the Evoque continues to sport the 9-speed automatic unit.
Four-wheel drive is standard across the range as well, and the Evoque also gets Land Rover's acclaimed Terrain Response System. This allows the driver to select between modes likes Grass, Snow, Sand and Rocks based on the terrain.
The other notable update is a new 10-inch touchscreen infotainment screen, that is now available in the top-spec HSE and HSE Dynamic variants (lower trims = 8-inch touchscreen). Other goodies include Oxford leather upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, electric seats, heads up display and a powered tailgate.
Ember Edition
With the launch of the MY17 version, Range Rover has added the 'Ember Edition' to the Evoque's lineup. The special edition is based on the top-spec HSE Dynamic variant and gets a unique black and red theme inside out. The exterior is finished in 'Santorini Black', contrasted with a bright 'Firenze Red' roof. The interiors sport a similar theme with 'Ebony Black' coloured seats with 'Pimento Red' stitching.
We will get our hands on the updated Evoque shortly, and put it through a thorough road-test. Do stay tuned to CarDekho for an in-depth review, coming soon.
