Remember, we spoke about the launch of petrol variant of Jetta sedan only some time back. The Volkswagen Jetta petrol was only spotted sometime back which led us to speculate that Volkswagen India could introduce the new variant at the 2012 Auto Expo. Well, we are right on the target because the car manufacturer seems to be aggressively testing the car, which is once again spotted in Pune during one of those test runs. Volkswagen might not have a brand new model for India, but it does have revamped version of Volkswagen Beetle and Volkswagen Jetta petrol variant for the Auto Expo.

Going by the usual pattern followed by Volkswagen, the German car manufacturer might use the same 1.8 L TSI petrol motor from the Skoda Superb and Audi A4 1.8L petrol variant to power the Volkswagen Jetta petrol. Volkswagen India might place the Volkswagen Jetta price for the petrol variant at around Rs 13 lakh from what we see the diesel variant of the sedan sells at. It is however not very often we see a car manufacturer fill the lack of petrol variant especially when the diesel cars dominate the car industry. Moreover, Volkswagen Jetta diesel sales are not that bad either. However, it’s very hard to predict the turn of events as far as car industry is concerned. Not long before we spoke about the possible tax hike on the diesel cars from Indian Government.

If it does happen as supposed then there might be a downturn in the diesel car demand. Whatever the reason might be, Volkswagen India is definitely on the right track with the Volkswagen Jetta petrol on the cards. On the other hand, Volkswagen India did not confirm its plans on Volkswagen Up!. It was a general assumption that Volkswagen would bring the small car Up! to the Indian Auto Expo. It is believed that the German car manufacturer is finding it hard to come up with the right price for the small car. So, Volkswagen Up! is something we have to wash our hands of.
