Back in December 2012, we brought you the spy pictures of Volkswagen Polo 1.2 TSI turbocharged hot hatch, which is coming as a replacement for the 1.6-litre petrol version of the car, phased out in 2012 end. Now some media reports claim that the Polo 1.2 TSI is coming as soon as this month.
Why we are calling it a hot-hatch is the fact that despite housing a 1.2-litre mill, it will be able to churn out the maximum power output of 105bhp, making it equally powerful as the discontinued 1.6-litre TSI version, thanks to the turbocharger and direct injection. The reasons why the Polo 1.6-litre was discontinued was the higher excise duty the car had to bear, which made it very costly. But this time it would enjoy the excise duty benefits due to smaller 1.2-litre mill, so it should be priced lesser than the earlier version.
The company claims the 1.2 TSI Turbo version to be able to touch the 0-100kmph mark in mere 9.7 seconds with the top speed of 190kmph. And such figures will make the Polo 1.2 TSI one of the swiftest hatches we have in India today. As far as the price of the new trim is concerned, it should be about Rs 80,000-1 lakh higher than that of the regular 1.2 variant.
This is all what we have for now , stay tuned to CarDekho for all the latest updates on the upcoming Volkswagen Polo 1.2-litre hot-hatch. Cheers!
