German auto major, Volkswagen is now all set to launch the hot-hatch Polo 1.2 TSI on April 29th, which will be named the Polo GT. The all new Polo GT is coming as a replacement for the top-of-the-line Polo 1.6-litre variant, which was phased out in 2012.
The reason behind calling it a hot-hatch is the fact that despite housing a 1.2-litre motor, it is capable of churning out the maximum power output of 105bhp, making it equally powerful as the discontinued 1.6-litre version, thanks to the turbocharger and direct injection. The Polo 1.6-litre was discontinued due to higher excise duty it had to bear, which made the car very costly. But this time around, the Polo GT will enjoy the tax benefits due to smaller 1.2-litre mill.
Besides, offering the best-in-class power output figures, the Polo GT will be able to touch the 0-100kmph mark in mere 9.7 seconds with the top speed of 190kmph. When it comes to pricing, we expect the Polo GT to be priced around Rs. 80,000- 1 lakh higher than that of the regular 1.2-litre variant, however considerably lesser than the phased out 1.6 variant.
