Volkswagen, the German car major plans to ramp up its production output of Volkswagen Polo in order to meet the increase in demand and to clear the backlogs in bookings that have already reached to 5,700 units just after two months of its launch. Volkswagen Polo, the latest hatchback entrant from Volkswagen group India, was launched in the month of March in the price range of Rs 4.34 and Rs 6.70 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The total bookings of Volkswagen Polo has reached to 7300 units out of which only 1599 units have been sold and rest remain as a backlog creating waiting times of approximately 4 months.

Neeraj Garg, a board member of Volkswagen Group Sales India, said that Volkswagen India is gradually trying to increase production. The group is looking forward to escalate production on a gradual basis and not rapidly as they don't intend to compromise on quality. Volkswagen Polo has about 50% production input as localised components which would allow the group to increase production but certainly on a careful note.

The production of Polo is going on in the Chakan facility of Volkswagen group which has produced around 1,800 units since its launch. The exact details on the quantification of production increase has not been realised till now.

Volkswagen India is trying its level best to meet the dual expectations of quality and quantity parallely and effectively. Volkswagen group has clearly denied and rejected every rumour saying that Volkswagen has been delaying delivery due to some technical errors in the vehicle. Neerag garg clearing air of all speculations also mentioned that Volkswagen Polo is one of the best car in terms of the technical specifications.

The chakan plant of the Volkswagen Group has a capacity of producing 1.1 Lakh units annually. This is the same plant where the production of Skoda Fabia is going on. Volkswagen Polo, launched in March was unveiled at the Delhi Expo this year. The car is expected to rise stiff competition for premium hatchbacks like Hyundai i10, Hyundai i20, Honda Jazz, Maruti swift and Maruti Suzuki Ritz.

It must be true as POLO is a very good car.But i am very disatified with the VW agency in Goa because they could not provide me the car since last 2 months and until now.It seems a lot of people booked the car and the agency collected Rs.50000.00 from each booker. Now there is no sign when the car is available and the agent will benefit with all this collection. As per sources the VW plant in Pune is capable of mass production but ?????? If this is the case then what will happen when the car needs servicing and spare parts?
