Volkswagen, the German auto major will unwrap the new roof-less version of E-Bugster cabriolet concept at the Beijing Auto Show 2012, the concept was showcased at the 2012 Detriot Motor Show held in January. However the E-Bugster was displayed in the guise of a coupe but the car has come out with the hardtop removed, and a slight hint of 2013 Beetle convertible can be picked up from E-Bugster designs. The car has a sporty touch with larger than life looks. The Volkswagen E-Buster derieves it power from an electric motor that pegs 114hp, the sprint power is 0-60 kmph in 10.8 seconds. The carbon emission is zero as this is an electric powered car; the lithium-ion battery goes 111 miles on road and the battery recharges in a little more than half an hour.
The interiors will also gives a sporty feeling and the car gives you a light show of Green and Blue as soon as the driver presses the start button. This new electric powered Beetle is the sportiest Beetle ever, with an engine of 85 KW power, zero emissions and still the sharpest of proportions. The central electric module of the Beetle E- Bugster is just 80 kg in weight. The lithium-ion battery powers the engine, which has found its place behind the front seats. The battery once fully powered will give you at least 180 km ride in the city area. Since the charging time is less than 35 minutes at the suitable charging station or at a conventional electric outlet, the car is apt for the modern world. The charge cable is placed behind the normal fuel door near the C-pillar.
The energy that the driver is deriving from pressing any of the electric pedals is shown in power display; also the driving range indicator and battery’s charge state is displayed. Interestingly the power can be regenerated (here refers to the recovery of braking energy), as soon as the driver lifts his foot from the acceleration or the brake pedal, the kinetic energy gets converted in to electric and is stored in to the battery. This in turn increases the driving range of Volkswagen Beetle concept E-Bugster and this complete electric drive unit is known as Blue-e-Motion.
