Volkswagen is always denying that they are not going to launch the smaller car Up! In the Indian auto industry. Why? But it is quite hard to believe, as the car has been caught testing numerous times. Our friends from Motorbash have posted a fresh set of images of Volkswagen Up! Caught during its test rounds in Pune.
The spotted hatch was the regular four-door version with some data-logging instrument fitted at the dashboard. The Up! Was shod with alluring alloys with wider tyres. There has been speculation that VW will sell the small car in the Indian auto market as a low cost or budget-friendly car, however the company is finding difficulty in meeting cost targets. The German auto-major is still trying hard to make it a locally built unit to price it competitively.
VW Up! Is a compact hatch which is likely to be powered by a 1L 3 cylinder petrol engine that develops around 60-75 PS of top power. It is quite difficult for VW to price Up! Lower than 3lakh, as if it comes in India it will compete against Maruti WagonR, Chevrolet Spark and other small hatchbacks.
