Volvo has launched the XC40 in India at a price of Rs 39.9 lakh, ex-showroom pan-India. The XC40 was globally revealed in 2017 and is the most affordable SUV in Volvo’s lineup. At launch in India, the XC40 is available in a single R-Design AWD variant which is powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The XC40 is the first car to be based on Volvo’s smallest modular platform, known as the Compact Modular Architecture (CMA).

On the inside, it gets Charcoal interior (black coloured) with R-Design-spec seats, sports steering wheel and leather gear knob. There’s also an option of Lava (red) carpeting and door inserts to add to the sporty appeal. The R-Design variant is available in 3 exterior colour options: white, blue and red.
The XC40 R-Design packs features like Park Assist Pilot, which assists in parallel parking by taking control over the steering wheel. The safety net comprises of features such as driver, passenger and side airbags; and Pilot Assist, which allows you to stick to the lane and follow a car in front at a set distance up to a speed of 130kmph. Adaptive cruise control, electronic stability control, hill descent control and City Safety are also a part of the package. The City Safety feature, which is standard on all variants of the XC40 globally, applies the brake if it detects an imminent collision with other vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists and large animals.
