VW Polo Sedan in Malaysia will import CKD Kits from India

Volkswagen Polo Sedan or Vento we known in India is exported to many other markets from India. Now, the Polo sedan will be locally assembled in Malaysia in the near future. The sedan cost high for the Malaysian consumers due to high taxes on imported cars. In order to make it cheaper, Volkswagen is all set to produce Polo sedan or Vento locally in Malaysia. Media reports suggest that, Volkswagen India will start developing assembly kits for Polo sedan to be exported to Malaysia from its Pune Plant.
This will create 215 new jobs in the company's parts and components unit as well as at suppliers. Volkswagen in India assembled its cars features 70 per cent local content, and the company is planning to increase the localization by developing engines and transmissions locally. VW Polo sedan or Vento in India is available at a cost of Rs. 7.29 lakh, while the car was launched in Malaysia as a CBU is tagged at 99,888 Malaysian Ringgits (around Rs. 17.74 lakhs). So to make it more affordable, VW aims to increase the localization of its contents.
Volkswagen Polo sedan, which is available in Malaysia is a top of the line petrol variant. The car is powered by the 1.6 litre engine, mated to a six speed automatic gearbox, which is capable of generating 105bhp. The localization or CKD programme will further down the prices of Polo sedan, helping the company to sell this vehicle in large numbers. VW India also exports Vento and other cars to Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh and South Africa.
