Taigun which was displayed at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo, has now been canceled to go into production
Volkswagen has reportedly canceled the production version of the Taigun concept. It made its Indian premiere at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo, while the world premiere was at the 2012 São Paulo International Motor Show. The reason might be that it is a very small offering (nearly 3.8m) and the financial assessment of the South American market has not been up to par. You might wonder as to why that is of importance. The answer lies deeply cocooned within the fact that it was in South America where Volkswagen wanted to launch this car., in the first place. Now, on the brighter side, VW will reveal a brand new compact SUV in the first week of March at the upcoming 2016 Geneva Motor, cherished as T-Cross.
Now this T-Cross is said to be inspired from the bigger T-Roc, which the German automaker debuted at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show. T-Roc was based on Golf, while T-Cross will be based on Polo. It expected that T-Roc will go into production next year and T-Cross in 2018. The T-Roc roughly measures 4.2m and it is most likely that the T-Cross will be a sub-4m offering considering it is based on Polo, which indeed is a sub-4m offering.
Speaking with respect to India, it is highly likely that Volkswagen will launch it in the country as the sub-4m SUV space is one of the most popular segment. It might have its debut at the 2018 Indian Auto Expo. When launched, it will compete with vehicles like Ford EcoSport, Mahindra TUV300 and upcoming Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Tata Nexon.
