The Tesla Cybertruck got a lot of attention for its design and specifications since it was unveiled.
-
Its production has now been pushed to some time in 2022.
-
It will be available in three powertrain options: single-motor RWD, dual-motor AWD and trimotor AWD.
-
The Cybertruck is a six-seater electric pickup truck with the usual Tesla features list of autonomous driver assists and a large central display.

Other electric pickups are expected to be launched in the US ahead of the Cybetruck like the Hummer and Rivian R1T.
The Tesla Cybertruck was unveiled towards the end of 2019 as an electric pickup with movie-like styling and incredible performance. Until recently, it was expected to enter production in late 2021 but that seems to have been pushed to 2022.
On the pre-order page for the Cybertruck, the message at the bottom now states that production nears in 2022 for all variants. It is still unclear if this means that customers can expect deliveries early into 2022 or towards the end of it. Other electric pickups like the Rivian R1T and Hummer EV (pickup version) are slated to begin deliveries towards the end of 2021 while the Ford F-150 Electric is slated to reach US showrooms by mid-2022.
The Cybertruck will be offered with three powertrain options: single-motor RWD, dual-motor AWD and tri-motor AWD. In its entry-level spec, Tesla’s pickup claims a range of more than 400km while the top-end variant claims over 800km of range from a single charge. The tri-motor setup will also be the quickest version with a 0-96kmph sprint time of just under 2.9 seconds. The specifications for the Cybertruck are still US-specific and may differ for other global markets.
We’ve only got one peek at the interior of the Cybertruck which reveals it to be a six seater, with three seats in the front and a bench seat in the back. The dashboard is minimalistic with just a steering wheel and a 17-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Its rear loading bay is lockable, can stow an ATV, or be converted for a camping setup. The Cybertruck also features air suspension and can be equipped with Tesla’s suite of autonomous driving assists.
The Cybertruck is reported to have over ten lakh pre-orders already, with 2 lakh of them being registered in its first week. Some may cancel their refundable pre-orders in favour of other electric pickups that could be launched before it. Tesla is poised to enter the Indian market soon with the Model 3 sedan but the Cybertruck is unlikely to arrive anytime soon.
